Dominic Starvaggi is the general manager for the boys Velocity club program and currently the head coach of the 2023 Black team.
Coach Starvaggi's 12-year career and knowledge for the game give him all of the tools to shine as a lacrosse coach. With a family that has devoted a lot of time to the sport of lacrosse in the Cincinnati area, Starvaggi's experience and passion for the game stand unquestioned.
Archbishop Moeller High School is where Starvaggi attributes a lot of his growth in the sport as a young man. At Moeller, he earned four varsity letters and helped revive a Crusader program that was trending in the wrong direction. By his senior year, he had received honors from the city and from his teammates as he earned honorable mention, was elected captain and earned the "Man of Moeller" award which is given to one senior on the team. Starvaggi enrolled at John Carroll University knowing he would continue to grow as a man and as a lacrosse player.
Starvaggi's first year at John Carroll marked the first year the university would be fielding a Division III NCAA Varsity lacrosse team. John Carroll saw Starvaggi as someone who could build a foundation for a program that would one day win championships. In the program's first year, 2014, John Carroll reached the Ohio Athletic Conference championship and Starvaggi received honorable mention. The program saw its peaks in 2016 and 2017 where Starvaggi was a two-time team captain and helped the team win two Ohio Athletic Conference championships which led to two NCAA tournament trips. The 2017 playoff birth was a huge success for John Carroll as the program earned its first playoff win cementing Starvaggi and his teammates in John Carroll's history.
After going through many peaks and valleys in his career, Starvaggi matured tremendously which in turn made him a better lacrosse player. He is now focusing on coaching where he wants to mold boys into men using his experience as the cornerstone for building the foundation for his players. Starvaggi's excitement and youth make him a perfect match for Velocity Lacrosse. Starvaggi graduated from John Carroll University in May of 2017 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a major in Finance. He currently lives in Cincinnati and works at Guaranteed Rate, a mortgage firm in Hyde Park.
